Level 1 progress
What Level 1 covers
- Reading: the treble staff, lines and spaces, and the notes C, D, E, F, G and A.
- Piano map: black key groups and finding every white key from them. The five-finger C position.
- Rhythm: steady beat, quarter, half and whole notes, quarter rests, and counting in 4/4.
- Listening: high and low, steps, skips and repeats, and forte and piano.
- Songs: 13 public-domain pieces, from "Hello, C!" to Ode to Joy and Twinkle, Twinkle. Each one is learned note by note, then played with the beat.
How Pip adapts
- New notes start with helpers: color, letter name and a glowing piano key. After 4 first-try notes in a row, one helper fades. In the end the note looks like plain sheet music. Two wrong tries bring a helper back.
- Song and rhythm tempos speed up after strong runs and slow down after hard ones.
- The high-or-low game makes the gap between notes smaller as your child's ear gets sharper.
- Quizzes, Bubble Pop and the Practice page pick the trickiest notes more often.
Settings
Pip listens for which note is played, in any octave, so piano, xylophone, recorder, ukulele and singing all work. Pip stops listening while it talks or plays, so it doesn't hear itself. Progress is saved in this browser only.
